I love the words found in 2 Samuel 7:22. The prophet Samuel tells us what David says in his prayer to God: "How great You are, Sovereign Lord! There is no one like You, and there is no God but You, as we have heard with our own ears."
I am a blessed man. I thank God for this great country in which I am able to live. I thank God for the opportunity to vote, to stand up and to speak out about my beliefs. This week is an important time for our communities, for our states, and for our nation. I believe the right to vote is something each and every citizen of this great country should appreciate and should take seriously. I thank God for our founding fathers and for the men and the women who have fought and who still fight for this country and the rights and privileges that we are able to enjoy. Yes, I am blessed to be a citizen of the United States of America!
I am a blessed man. I thank God for the Holy Spirit, who stirred my heart to repentance. I thank God for Jesus Christ, who lived for me and died for me and rose from the grave to defeat sin and death for me. I am blessed to be called "a child of God" through salvation in Jesus Christ alone. I am blessed to personally hear the words God spoke in Isaiah 43:1, when God said, "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; YOU ARE MINE." Yes, I am blessed to be a child of God!
I am a blessed man. I thank God for His Word. He has revealed Himself to me through His powerful and Holy Word. I thank God for the truth that has set me free...both now and forever! I don't have to live in fear or in doubt or in worry. I can live in victory...the victory of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior! I can and do pray, like David, "How great You are, Sovereign Lord!" What I know and what I believe is that God is Sovereign God. He was Sovereign God yesterday. He is Sovereign God today. And He will be Sovereign God tomorrow and every other day that comes! Nothing in this world and no one in this world will change the truth that God is Sovereign God! No earthly king or kings, no earthly elections, no politicians, no militia, nor any man on this earth will change the truth that God is Sovereign God! And I believe the words that Paul spoke in Romans 14:11, when he said, "It is written: 'As surely as I live,' says the Lord, 'every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.'" Thank You, God, for the blessings You have poured out in my life. Thank You, God, for Your sovereignty. You are in control, and I rest in You. I rest in Your sovereignty. I rest in Your truth. I rest in Your love. Thank You, Sovereign God. Thank You, Father God. I am a blessed man! Amen.
